Tapping into Your Power: Ann Hince's Path to Healing, Health & Happiness
Can you imagine being a teenager and discovering your mom deceased in the bathroom? This is what happened to Ann Hince and twenty years later she was still unknowingly carrying, and being effected by, the pain and trauma of that experience.
Did you know that memories, past pain and challenging emotions often get “stuck” in your physical body? Maybe you did, but did you also know that this contributes to and can lead to physical, mental and emotional discomfort, dis-ease and becoming “stuck” ourselves?
Through her work with Tapping (EFT) and beyond, Ann Hince has been unlocking these mysterious pain points within herself and getting measurable results in her body (with x-rays to prove it), her emotions and her everyday life! Today she shares her story and some of these techniques and tips to empower us on our own journey. Ann wants us all to know that we have this incredible power within us and she believes that, with a little practice, we can all find healing, health and happiness.
Show Notes:
About Ann Hince:
When she was 19, Ann woke one morning to find my mother dead face down in our bathroom. Twenty years later the tears from that trauma were still just under the surface.
Ann says it took one 15 minute session with a strange technique to remove the charge from that event and be able to tell the story with no emotion. That one session set her on a journey to not only release the trauma from past memories, but to get beyond that, into the subconscious mind to release tension stored deep in her body, simply using the power of my awareness.
Ann has developed the ability to sense inside her body, and release physical tension stored in her connective tissue, using solely the focus of her mind. She has x-rays to show the physical changes resulting from this inner work - including changing the alignment of her eye sockets, the straightening of her neck, the centering of her lower jaw, and the growth of her tooth roots. She has also grown 3/4 of an inch at the age of 56.
Ann wants us all to know that we have this incredible power within us, it just takes going further with practices that you may already be doing.
Changing what is on our inside, changes what we see on the outside, so it is Ann's belief that we can not only change our personal world, but also our collective world.

Her name is Ann Hince, she is going to tell us about this healing modality that is so much deeper than kind of your average healing modality, it really gets to clearing all of the emotions that cause all of the tension in our body in our reaction in our lives. It is so incredible. She's also going to explain to us her understanding of law of attraction through this work and how we can each shift the energy and shift our own law of attraction right away. This technique is incredibly simple, incredibly accessible. She even has a free cheat sheet that she's going to tell us about that everyone can download from her website and hence.com which of course will be linked in the show notes. But you know, I love a good healing modality, especially one that anyone can do, anyone can start experiencing right away. And that's exactly what we have today. So without further ado, welcome in to Spirit Speakeasy and my conversation with the incredible soul Ann Hince.
Hey, beautiful soul Welcome back or welcome in for another episode of Spirit Speakeasy. I'm really excited to share our guests today. Her name is Ann Hince - am I saying that right? Ann Hince? Ann Hince. I'm already off to a great start. I'm going to read her bio, and then we're going to launch right into chatting she has some great information to share with us today. When Ann was 19, she woke up in the morning to find her mom passed away down in their bathroom. 20 years later, tears from that trauma, we're still continuing for her under the surface. And Ann says it took just one 15 minute session with a strange technique to remove the charge from that event. And she would be able to tell the story with no emotion after that, that one session set her on a journey to not only release the trauma from past memories, but to get beyond that into her subconscious mind to release tension store deep in her body simply by using the power of her awareness and has developed the ability to sense inside her body and release physical tension stored in her connective tissue. Using solely the focus of her mind, she even has X rays to show the physical changes resulting from this inner work including changes in the alignment of her eyes, sockets, the straightening of her neck, the centering of her lower jaw, and the growth of her tooth roots. She has also grown three quarters of an inch at the age of 56, which is pretty incredible. And wants us all to know that we have this incredible power within us. It just takes going further with practices that you may already be doing. Changing what is on the inside changes what we see on the outside. So it's Anne's belief that we can not only change our personal world, but also our collective world. Welcome in and it's so great to have you here. Thanks, Joy. It's great to be here. Will you share a little bit about that story. I know you were just telling me that your story really comes in three parts. So I'll let you kind of take over and the way you like to share it. But it's really an incredible story.
Thank you. I'm sharing this story because I didn't know what I could do now it's possible before. So I want other people to know it's possible so they can do it too. Yeah, so you this is not your it's not like you had some background and training in this previously. It's just really something that came about from this one person that you worked with. Is that right? Yeah, I was so determined to change because I was so reactionary. I had Complex PTSD from two alcoholic parents and, and all these other multiple trauma traumas as a child. And I didn't realize until my late 30s That my childhood was still affecting me. Oh, that's so interesting. So that the symptom was that you were aware that you were either just what's the way you like to say it hyper reactive or just very emotionally reactive to things? Yeah, I just say reactionary reactionary. But you didn't realize it was stemming from those previous experiences. I didn't know because it was all
stuck in my subconscious mind. Wow. And it took an event to one specific event and that was a business altercation with a couple of other mothers at my boys school. Okay, these women, it was self confidence self assured authority type women and I was the scared mother on the inside. And they told me I've done something wrong. Oh, my goodness, and my mind just been out of control. It just, it went over and over, you know what I'd said? What they said, what I did what I could have done differently, all these different permutations over and over and over in my mind for three days. Wow. And it was at the end of that I realized, okay, this is just not normal. Not working for you. Right, right. But I also realized it felt a little bit like how I would react when my dad would tell me I'd done something wrong. Okay, that's an interesting connection. Yeah, that was the first little opening little inkling that maybe my childhood was still affecting me. I hadn't even considered it up until that point in my late 30s. Wow. And I think so many of our listeners can resonate with that story, just as people who do tend to lean towards people pleasing, and will replay those conversations or perceive like a strong, aggressive personality. I was like a bully personality and keep replaying those scenarios. So how powerful that you were able to put those two pieces together? I guess. So. Yeah. People tell me that now. I mean, you know, obviously, at the time, I didn't, I didn't Hindsight is 20-20, right? Yes. Right. And you know, a lot of people don't you know, my brother, you know, who grew up in the same household, he kind of, he went down the route that my parents went down, he became an alcoholic, and he died a few years ago. I'm so sorry. He wasn't open, or he didn't have an opening. Perhaps maybe he just didn't have one of those openings early on. Well, actually, it wasn't early, was it? It was my late 30s. But he didn't have one of those openings to make him look at his childhood and and release it and change. Whereas for some reason I did. Well, the truth is a lot of people don't aren't willing to either do the inner work or look from a different perspective. So you started to realize in that incident, that okay, this is too long to be ruminating on what happened. Where did you go from there? Yeah, it was also my boys. I had two boys, boys were getting a little older. And when I was young, I was sent to a boys boarding school. It was my brother's boarding school. So I was the only girl boarder for the first time madness. And I was teased mercilessly by those boys aged nine through 13. So I was actually scared age, I was scared of boys in that age. And so I knew I had to do something before my boys got to that age, and it was getting there. So, you know, it was extra incentive, but I didn't know what to do at the time. And it just happened that I went to a doctor's appointment. in that timeframe. He was a holistic physician. So he had more tools in his toolbox, and many doctors do. Yeah. And he recognized that I was more stressed than I should be given that I was a stay at home mother with two healthy young boys. And it shouldn't have been too bad. But he asked me on a scale of zero to 10, what my stress level was, and I said eight. And then he asked me why. And it was that question that made me realize, okay, it was finding my mother dead on the bathroom floor when I was 19. Because the tears was still just under the surface all these years later. And so you happen to know this technique that is called EFT, which is short for emotional freedom technique. It's also called tapping, because we're tapping on certain places on our body as he talks something through. So he tapped with me for about 15 minutes about my mother's death, you know about finding her and that experience that morning, and everything. And we went through it a couple of times. I let some tears flow. And on my way home from that appointment, I realized, okay, I could tell the story in my mind without the tears there anymore. And that was the first time I realized that we hold all those emotions and those memories physically in our body. Yeah, that we can let them go. So that was huge. That's pretty incredible. And I'm sure it was pretty incredible in your experience of it. I think we all have some reference for that feeling of something that's just under the surface like that, where if we start to talk about it, you know, tears will come or we try to avoid talking about it. Where did you go from there? So you have this really, probably very interesting experience at the time. Right. But I used to be a software engineer. So that's my bow wow, engineering. So So you wanted to engineer this technique? Well, I didn't necessarily believe that it was actually doing that. I thought maybe it was a fluke, right? Maybe it was a one time thing. So I wanted to learn everything I could about it. So I actually went online, and I learned what I could about EFT I found that it was developed by a chemical engineer. So that gave me more confidence in it. Yes, and scientific way. He gave it away.
for free, so I went online and I learned everything I could about it. But I still wanted to try it out on something because I just, I didn't believe in it at that point fully. So I had a 17 year old cat at home at the time, and his kidneys were starting to fail. So we had to give him a daily saline shot. It's like, saline solution, and I hated needles. Just eight of them. So the first time I gave him that shot, my hand was shaking so bad, like, I wasn't gonna be able to do it every day. It was just too stressful. Yeah.
Yeah, let me try out this technique. I've learned it. So let me try it out on something fairly simple. So I did. So I turned about every aspect of that, which is something you do with EFT. So I talked about my handshaking. I talked about my fear of hurting the cat. And I talked about the memories from all the injections I had have over the years, which was many. And the next day, when I gave him the shot, the needle just slid right in Whoa, that fear that had been sitting inside of me the day before, had totally disappeared. So that's when I realized, okay, EFT is really powerful. But I also realized that was the place I wanted to be, I wanted to be on the other side of all those emotions of all that I wanted to, yeah, sitting in that place of peace. So that's when I started using it. I started noticing during the day when I was emotional, and then I would tap, okay, and whatever it was kind of except the feeling that I was having right, then all the thoughts and then bring myself back to peace and move on with my day. So What year was this? Because I know that you know, present day 2024 There's probably a lot more information about tapping or EFT online now than perhaps when you were first kind of really searching. What year was that? Well, that was about 17 or 18 years ago. Yeah, that's a while. Yeah, it's less than
that. The thing is, it seems to have morphed, you know, things do that over time. So So in fact, I've slightly changed it to, but one of the things to notice is a lot of EFT practitioners and their videos online have gone more to the positive. Okay. But the power in EFT is working with the negative because that is what stuck in the body. The positive doesn't stick in the body the same way is the negative sticks in the body through tension. And it's the tapping on the negative that releases the tension in the nervous system. That was pretty incredible. Yeah, so that's really something to know. Also, a lot of EFT practitioners are putting videos online that are using scripts. So someone else's words they give you the words to tap with, and then you tap on them. That is never as powerful as using your own words. Okay, it's our own words are in memories that are stuck in our nervous system. And if we don't, yeah, words, I would imagine it's triggering a different emotional response. If something is you know, the way that you feel it and would say it versus a script, right? Yeah. And someone who was born speaking a different language should use that language that they that got instilled in them in childhood because our traumas get stuck. Oh, that's a fascinating linguistics piece to use your primary language? Yes. Yeah. Let's quickly touch into for anyone who doesn't know a lot about EFT I've actually had it done before and had someone walked me through it before. So I'm so excited to talk to you about your method. The only tell you the way I understand it, and then you can clean it up and give us the corrections. So I understand it as taking the tips of your four fingers and physically tapping on different What are energetic meridian points throughout. Typically it's the upper body, right? There's some on the head, forehead, eyebrows, cheekbones, kind of jawline, more towards the thyroid, or the collarbone. I think there's one in the breastbone as well. The under arm and then the sides of hands. Is that right? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, more.
And then as you're doing the the taps, right, so it's just that physical, gentle tapping for those that are listening and not watching. What how's the way that you're framing the statements or the emotions to move it through the process? Because if I'm remembering it right at the beginning, when someone's going to start a session, you would ask them kind of a measure of, you know, how on a one to 10 or one to five Are you feeling and then you keep asking throughout the course of the session? Is that right? Yes, that's definitely that's what the doctor did with me when he asked me on a scale of zero to 10 what my stress level was, and I said eight. Yes. So that is definitely probably the correct way to do it. Which leaves when you're beginning right when you're starting out and you don't yet know how to judge the feelings, right? Asking yourself on that on that scale. What? how intense the emotion is that you're feeling? Yeah, let's use the example of your cat because I think that
is like I am terrified of injections and having to do all that. I think that's a great example that a lot of people can really get behind like, oh, yeah, that feels a little bit scary. Where did you start with that on the fear side of that spectrum? When I started, I was probably nine. Okay, up there. Yeah, I Yeah, it was just terrifying. And did you ask yourself like, what's the stress level? What's the fear level? How did you word it? Well, I first and to be honest, I can't remember. So well, how would you do it now? I guess. Right.
So it's about finding our truth. And I'm so much better at finding my truth now, because our ego wants to hide our truth. It's, it's a complex. Yeah, has to work along to start realizing how much your ego tries to hide your truth. So I was afraid of hurting my cat. I knew that was true, right? I knew that was a true statement. So that I work out. Okay. So how much is that fear? It's a nine out of 10. Okay, so then you start tapping on the karate chop point on the side of the hand, okay. And the original phrase that he developed was, even though I'm afraid of hurting my cat, I deeply and completely love and accept myself. That's what Gary Craig used. I found that so many people have so much resistance to saying that, Oh, interesting. And some people couldn't even get beyond that resistance into the meat of what they're working on. Right? The fear of hurting the cat. So I change that. So I say, even though I'm, I'm afraid of hurting my cat. That's the truth. That's my truth in this moment. And it's okay that I feel this way. Okay, like that. Yeah, it feels like it easier. People made an axe into it. Yeah. More that way. Yeah. And then you shorten it. So I'm afraid of hurting my cat. Or you could just say this fear. And then you start going through the points and the top of their head is the Crown Point is the first point, you just tap on that you're tapping not so gently that it doesn't do anything, right, right. Don't want to hurt yourself, you're trying to create an interrupt into the nervous system. That in the body, the nervous system is feeling the fear of hurting the cat. And that's what the words we use the words to bring the emotion back into the body. Okay, so my fear of hurting my cat, the tapping is interrupting the normal, the normal expression of that fear in my body, and it releases it. So this fear of hurting my cat, I'd say that on the top of my head, then the beginning of my eyebrow. That's fear. I'm afraid of hurting my cat. The edge of my eye, I'm afraid of hurting my cat. under my eye, I'm afraid of hurting my cat. On my upper lip, I'm afraid of hurting my cat on my chin. I'm afraid of hurting my cat on the collarbone. I'm afraid of hurting my cat. And the last point is under the arm where the bra strap goes across. If you have one. I'm afraid of hurting my cat. Then you take a deep breath. You let it out. And that's one round of EFT. Okay. And then after that round, is that when you would check back in? Yeah, the on the scale? What is it now? Is it still a nine? It's like no doesn't feel that maybe it feels like a seven? Okay, then maybe the words have changed slightly, you know, maybe I'm afraid of hurting him because I remember hurting another animal before. Or maybe I'm afraid that he's going to jump up and scratch me right? Maybe a little bit more detail comes in? And if so I add those words as I'm doing it. Okay, I just tap through it again. And I keep doing that until it's down to a 01 or two. And at which point, at which point I would move on to another aspect, right, I would move on to my hand was shaking so much. Right? The physical aspect of my hand shaking. Yeah. And I tap through that. And then I would go through the memories of my memories of other times you've experienced that emotion. The other times with the injections. Okay, needles. Yes. Because it was the most true part was the the needle fear. Yes. Right. So we work on the thing that's most intense first, and then. So even with my mother's death, I worked through it with the doctor in the in the doctor's office, and that took away the surface layers of the emotions. And I have more to do because what it's doing is it's opening up the subconscious mind. And so memories of different aspects start coming to the surface that were hidden before. So there were other aspects that I would remember from my mother's death that I would then tap on as well. And then maybe after that, you know, a day or two later, maybe another part of the memory would come to mind. And and that's kind of how you're opening up that wound inside of you and clearing it out a little bit by little bit until it can heal. That's pretty amazing. Is there a time where so many people that listen here have lost a significant loved one in their life? So I think that is it's amazing to put these two things together grief and loss and this
You know, EFT tapping technique when you have that first fear or the most true statement that you work with that first layer, right? And then you move through that you kind of do the rounds of tapping and you get down to 01 or two. In the subsequent days, have you found any of those layers to kind of represent as a higher number? Like, is there ever a time where you're working through a similar phrase on like a future date? Sometimes they will, which is normally another memory coming to mind of a similar events or similar feeling? And yes, and then you just work on that one? Wow, it's a way of doing the layers of the onion, right? Just just layer by layer by layer by layer, you can just you can go so deep doing this work? And how do you know when you're done with a topic or an area or an element of that specific overall subject, when you can easily talk tell someone about it with no emotion. So it just sounds like you're reading from a book, right? Your your voice doesn't change, your body doesn't tighten up. So it's, it has no energy left in it. Okay, then it's cleared out. It's pretty powerful. And we do I mean, my joke is always that science is slowly but surely catching up with all of the energetic things that we know to be true when we're in, in a practice. And I think we've known energetically for many, many years now that we do hold things in the body, whether it's, you know, the muscles, or the layers of the fascia are the way things compress. And I'm really just astounded with the results that you've got in your own physical body, which I'm gonna put the link in the show notes for everyone, including your website, link, which the videos there as well, but you have this incredible video on your YouTube where you actually show scans from your dentist of showing what we were talking about in your bio of, you know, your your neck, straightening your jaw shifting your eye socket shifting, will you talk about how this emotional technique is then connected to shifting in the physical body? Right, it's so interesting that it's really all connected. It's, I love it. I just love that there's like tangible proof now, because we I think we've all known for a long time. Yes. So so that's really, step three on my journey is over changing. So let me just congest the rest of step one. So I used it every day, right. And I noticed I was becoming less reactionary. So so it was lovely. But I wanted it more I wanted it faster. So I wrote down all the traumas that I could think of my childhood, early emotional memories. And I tap through one each night for about an hour to an hour and a half each night, because I was determined.
Well, and you're approaching it like a true scientist, and just really wanting to be diligent. But even early on that byproduct was that when you're at your son's school, when you're interacting with people, you're noticing yourself less reactionary, kind of across the board? Is that true? Yeah, absolutely. And family life was karma. Because I was karma. Yeah, I had changed. I didn't trigger other people, you know, I didn't get triggered. So they didn't get triggered because I got triggered, you know. So that whole thing as within so without, so, yeah, it was really nice. And I just wanted to go deeper. Well, I'm not testing results, like I would say, Yeah, I'm not heard of this technique where you could go through your whole past. So that's what I did. And what I realized over time is that it is, it's opening up the subconscious mind. But at the same time, it's kind of one in the same thing. Our self awareness deepens. So I became aware of my emotions, which I hadn't been when I started, because I was so just shut down from all this trauma that was holding. So I became aware of my emotions. And then I became aware at a deeper level of the physical sensations underneath the emotions. So we use a word like frustration in everyday language, but where we're really describing is where we're holding tension in our body, which we then call frustration. So this is kind of reversing that process. So if you're feeling frustrated, where are you feeling in your body, that is tension in your body, if you can become more aware of it. So I became aware of that layer that level. And I realized at that point, I didn't need to use EFT as much I could have done I could have tapped on I can feel this frustration in my solar plexus. But because I had honed my focus skills a little bit more than before, so I found I could focus on the physical sensations themselves. What I call feeling your feelings, right? It's obvious obvious phrase, well, sounds obvious, I guess. But I can remember when I was first very new in my journey and my first mentor without asking a similar question, what you just said, What's that name, that emotion and where do you feel it in your body and I was not in my body at all. So I was like, I don't know what you're talking about. So I think a lot of us start there. Right? And that's why EFT
He was so beneficial because it works when you're at that phase. That's why it was so good for me because I couldn't have done the feeling your feelings if I wasn't aware of my feelings, but the EFT allowed me to become aware of my feelings as I released those layers. Wow. So then I started doing that every day. So if I found myself triggered, I would stop and just feel that emotion, feel the feelings, the physical sensations. And once they're given enough attention, they will release. So that's what I would do. And then in the evenings, I'd already worked through my childhood trauma. So in the evenings, I would lay down on the sofa, and I would just bring collective traumas to mind, you know, something like 911, right? We all had our own experience of that. So I would just bring the memories to my mind, and just allow my body to feel all those sensations that I had suppressed. And it felt really good, right? It's tension that's been stored in the body for decades. Got to feel good. And it did. Wow. So in this step, when you were able to not always need to use the actual tapping, was it? I know, it's collective memories, but you were taking it to like your specific memories from that day, if you didn't have something that was like particularly traumatic for you. But it had been a big global event. Could you still work it that way? Or is that kind of bringing new pain into your body? Well, I mean, I wasn't involved in 911. But I saw it on the news. Yeah. Right. I was in the Loma Prieta earthquake in the San Francisco Bay area. So I did have that. But we also we all experience the tsunami on the news right now, there's a lot of events that we don't think we're connected to, but because we're experiencing them through some form of media, we often do have emotions or feelings around it, even though we're not aware of it. Yeah, that's a really good point. Yeah. So I would bring those news stories back to mind, and feel if I had any emotions that I had suppressed and just kind of relax into those memories. And it would release. So it was it was fun. It was good. So then, I guess we could say, this is what people are talking about when they say sitting with the emotion, feeling it in your body? How do you know is it just you get a physical sensation of release? And then you know, okay, this, this one's past, and I can move on? Yeah, it takes takes doing the same thing over and over again. So a good example for me is when I started this, I was just doing it at the kitchen sink, I'm doing the dishes at the kitchen sink. Right. And I could catch a thought that had some emotion involved something like I'm afraid of making a phone call. Okay, right. So I would think that thought, and I would notice where the fear was, for me fear is normally in my stomach, solar plexus area. So I've noticed that fear, and I would just focus on it, I would just feel it. And I would allow it to really, so it took, I would have to take a deep breath, eventually,
there would be a deep breath, it would happen. And then I would think the thought again, okay, I'm afraid of making this phone call. And I would notice that the fear was slightly less. Okay, so then I would do the same thing again, feel the fear of making this phone call. Take a deep breath, let it out. And I've noticed again, think the thought again, feel it and it was less. So I do it over and over until the fears are gone. At which point it becomes easy to make the phone call. Yeah. That's great.
I think a lot of us know we have trigger things like this of anything, you know, for me, it tends to be things that I perceive in advance as potential confrontation or, you know, uncomfortable conversations. So it's a great way I guess, to prepare yourself if you know, you're going to have to make a phone call. It's great to do this ahead of time, right? Or EFT, right? If you can't feel where that fear is, you can use the tapping. Yeah, so I just kept doing that. And one day, I realized I was lying on the sofa, I realized I could keep my awareness inside my body after the tension had released. So imagine if you have a toothache or a stomachache, you can feel where that pain is coming from. Right? Feel it. But once the pain has gone, the stomach ache or toothache has gone. You can't find it again, with your awareness. You can't really focus on it because there's nothing calling your attention to it anymore. I found that I could I could put my awareness back inside. And so I hadn't heard of this before. I didn't know what it was. I was just I just started playing with it. So what can I do now I can do that. So I would move my awareness around and I noticed I could find place with tension compared to a place with no tension. Okay, I would find a place with tension. I would focus on it. Just feel it allow it to be felt and it would release a little bit. So then I would do it again and again and again. So I'm doing exactly the same
Same thing as I was doing with the feeling the feelings, I'm just now inside the body. And it's also the same as EFT because you do that over and over again, with the with words that time with EFT. So it's just a deeper level of self awareness, focusing on it, allowing it to be felt, and it releases. So that's pretty amazing. Once you get to this point where you're able to identify additional tension in the body, I think a lot of us feel tension in that tummy, solar plexus area, like you were saying, so say we've done a bit of a round of that, release some tensions out with some emotion, and then you can stay in that same internal zone. Suppose that you, you know, maybe move towards your back and realized, okay, there's some tension there. Are you then also connecting it to the emotion in that phase or by them? The emotion was already cleared? Yeah, that's an interesting question. It's all very much connected. So a lot of times, I would focus on somewhere and feel a release and a memory would pop into my mind. Oh, interesting. Just disappear. Yeah, sometimes emotions, but normally, a lot of the emotions I had dealt with, with the EFT already, or the feeling the feelings, so it didn't feel as much connected to the emotions, but definitely memories. Were contrasting things. Yeah. So maybe the emotion wasn't as activated in that memory. But still, there was a memory connected in? Yes, yeah, you really interesting. Now, it doesn't help as much now because I'm so deep. I think I'm almost deeper than the conscious memories. So maybe I'm working on subconscious. Or, before I was verbal, perhaps memories at this point, because no places come to mind. No words come to mind is just pure tension stuck in the bones and the connective tissue? Wow, I guess it's part of the like, magical, double edged sword of the subconscious. It's, like you were saying earlier, it holds things from us to try to protect us. But then at the same time, absolutely right. Because as I kept doing this work in my torso, and move or moving or moving to different places, and feeling the tension and letting it go, eventually, it took many, many months. And I don't remember how long but a long time before I could put my awareness and take the hit. Okay. And that was huge at that point. Because when I put my awareness inside my left cheek, there was so much pain and tension inside my left cheek that had been stuck in my conscious, subconscious mind for 50 years at that point. Because when I was born, I was born with my right foot up against my right shin. So first six weeks of life, I had kind of physical therapy to release the foot, but hadn't released the tension all the way up my right leg all the way across my body into my left cheek. Wow. And it was so intense. If I had been conscious of that for 50 years, I don't think I could have survived. Yeah, because it was so painful. So it was hidden in my subconscious, so I didn't have to be aware of it. Wow. But I'd released so much at this point that it got to the place that I was I guess I was ready for it because I had the tools and techniques to use. So I just worked on it little bit by little bit first for like a second or so and then get on with my life because that puts it back in the subconscious. I took that focus on in and it would come back to consciousness again and then I'd work on it a little bit more.
And over time it it just releases and I was actually out at one day and I was I was waiting for some people to arrive so I was just feeling into it again actually heard and felt something release and it sounded and it felt like all fabric ripping. Oh my goodness, I know so at that point, I was a little concerned that what I was doing was hurting myself. So I went home and I did some research and that's when I realized that it it was an adhesion in the connective tissue that was releasing so I wasn't hurting myself so I kept doing it and I only noticed it because I was up in my head I was by my ears I could actually hear it release Wow. So then I just kept doing it more and more and more and more and with the release and you know, I have adhesions or something release probably 100 times a day at this point. It's hard to believe how much tension I have stored inside it's still not fully done because I'm not symmetrical yet what I think it's doing it's releasing tension to become symmetrical and my my I can see my face is still kind of scrunched up around this left cheek area. So there's a lot more release I can I can feel a release in the bones inside my left cheek but it won't stay released because I still have tension in the right side of my neck that hasn't released it's totally connected those two places. So, so fascinating. And one of the I think one of the powerful things about
This technique is, I mean, with my background in, you know, massage therapy and kinesiology and having worked with a lot of professional athletes in the past
doctors to your point about, you know, your, your challenges at birth, they typically focus on what they consider the problem area, but they don't worry about the rest of the chain. And I've seen it over and over with people who have had an injury or surgery, and they've gone through physical therapy that's just addressing typically an isolated area. And the connective tissue is a web that's through our whole body. And just like anything, you know, if we're wearing a sweater, and we're pulling on one thread, it's pulling other areas, it's just, medicine has not come along all the way to where they're not so compartmentalized thinking, Oh, okay, your, you know, your shin is just your shin, it's not connected up into your knee and your quad and your hip and all the way up into your torso. And so it gives, it's so empowering to people who maybe do have aches and pains or other adhesions or imbalances that doctors are like, Oh, well, we did the surgery, there's no, there's nothing we can do about that. Right? Start looking somewhere else. Right, I would never have thought my right foot, your being that way. When I was born, it might I don't know where it stemmed from yet. Still, I feel like I should know if I, you know, I can feel inside. But it's just so connected, that it stem from my left cheek? Or did it stem from my right neck? I think it's them from one of those places. And, you know, you would never have thought that if you're working on my right foot. So yeah, it's so connected. And what I realized, when I'm focusing inside, am I moving my awareness around inside? I believe I am moving my awareness through the connective tissue, which I think is where the soul moves, I think it's part of the soul is the connective tissue. And that's where we hold so much of the tension, because that's where I'm releasing the tension. Yeah. And it's, I think it's in the connective tissue. So, you know, moving a little bit more to the spiritual realm. Yeah, I absolutely know that I'm not my body, because I can see inside my body, so I can't be my body, if I can see from one place to another inside my body. So it's pretty incredible. Absolutely. To your body and your soul has no question in my mind is no, it has to be that way. While and I think there's a lot of fun experiments to be done even just through meditation of kind of moving our, the way I first started learning to do it was moved my awareness up into the corner of the room. And then I could kind of almost look with my mind's eye from that vantage point. And I could see down and so when you're going inside and moving your awareness through the internal part of your body, are you kind of seeing that inside of your jaw in your mind's eye? Are you just feeling into that area? How would you describe it?
Such a tricky question. I know we only got words. This was my constant complaint is the language doesn't quite match up to the experience, but I do our best. Yeah, the way I talk about it is this kind of seeing slash sensing. So I can see light versus darkness. I know that the tension is the darkness. And once we release the tension, the lights there, okay, it's already there underneath the darkness. That's why I know we only have to address the negative. That's what stuck in the body. So kind of like opening up a clog, so to speak. Yes, it's like, it's like, yeah, I spoke to someone about it online the other day, it's like, it's an electrical circuit, like a whole mess of electric wires, right, that have energy moving through them. But there's a knot in there. And that knot in there is stopping the lights or the electricity in that knot. So all we've got to do is release the knot, and then the energy moves through it again. And I liked Yeah, well, I love your approach, too. Because something that I used to work with my clients on is a lot of times if someone's going to do manual release, I'm sorry, therapist, a physical therapist. Yes, we can get some relief. But if the individual has not, quote, unquote, unstuck, the emotion, it's just gonna go right back to that dense position. Yeah, that's why I can't fully release my left cheek because the so much tension still in my right neck. Yeah. So it can't stay released. So yeah, so I mean, that's the kind of thing with chiropractic, right? You know, you can you can release a bone for a moment or for a little while, but if everything else if the connective tissue is still holding on to all the tension it was holding on to before, it's just gonna go back again. Do you think it's like a really good weigh in if someone is doing something like chiropractic for example, I think that really highlights a way to notice okay, I didn't realize how much tension was there in that part.
of my neck just kind of bringing someone's awareness to that. So then they could use either the tapping or the going within techniques, because now they have a highlighted area to work on. Yeah, for sure. And it can provide some relief to so well, yeah, that's, that's a benefit to temporarily. Yeah. But I remember, you know, going to a chiropractor and having, you know, a lot of Craps and purposes as something was adjusted, and thinking, Well, gosh, there was so much tension relieved. And yet today, I will do that with my neck probably 10 times a day, every single day. So that, you know, that one little experience with the chiropractor was nothing compared to the amount of tension that's actually stored inside there, at least inside me, right? I don't know, for others. I mean, I've had scoliosis, I've had the result of that foot, my whole life. So maybe I'm just way more tense, or, you know, distorted than other people, I don't know. But it's a massive amount of tension that's stored inside. We all have stuff and stuck emotions and traumas and things that different versions of us perceived as traumas. And yeah, so you said you you heard that internal, almost like the fabric ripping and then you're like, okay, hold on. Is this. Is this healthy for me? Is that what leads you in to do the scans that you show? The I mean, I know those scans are about eight years apart. Is that right? In the video? Yes, yes. Well, I had orthodontic way three times in my life. So they would just orthodontic X rays. And you know, when I could feel my skull lens, relaxing, I knew things were shifting, I could feel them shifting. Yeah, literally feel them shifting. So I had this new set of x rays. And I've never looked at the old ones. So I thought, Okay, well, let me have a look. They were just regular x rays, nothing special. It just my orthodontist wanted them. So I looked at the ones from eight years prior, and it was pretty surprised to see the changes. I mean, nice surprise, I'd love to have more taken because I have done so much more in the last two years. I would love to see the changes, but my orthodontist doesn't do them anymore. And apparently they don't do those ones anymore. So Oh, interesting. I bet you, I bet you you could get a chiropractor or a different type of dentists to do that I have searched, they do a lot of 3d ones now, you know, okay, 3d heads. So that might be fun, too. I just couldn't compare quite the same way. And I can't help but think there has to be some university that'd be interested in, you know, studying aid, especially since you do have these pre documented X rays, which are fantastic to have. And I was telling you before we hopped on, I love the way you show them in the video, I always joke and say like, I'm the friend that never sees the ghost or the orb in the picture. And someone's got to like circle it for me. And so you kind of do that for us in this video. You you use the magic of the computer and draw the lines and, and show us where specifically so if someone I mean, you can see it with the naked eye. But if you're just someone like me, that's not amazing at noticing those differences, particularly in the eye sockets. I noticed it quite a bit that shifting. Will you talk a little bit about that? Yeah, I mean, that's one of those things that I didn't know it happens but but if you to me, I looked at them as if I was looking at sunglasses, and in one of them the old one that the sunglasses did not look, you know, aligned, but in the the new one they just looked, they just looked like they would fully align. I mean, I didn't know you could do that. I didn't know that could happen. I didn't know it was happening to be honest, right? Because I'm just, I'm mostly working in the lower half of my face, that's, I just find the place that's calling my attention. So the place with most tension or most pain, and they focus on that. So so far it's been the lower half of my face and my neck is whenever I release anywhere in my body, my torso or my head, it also releases in my neck. Okay, some reason is just the neck is connected to a lot C spine Yeah, is pretty connected to everything, even just in an innovation capacity. And it really houses a lot at the base of the of the skull. So you just sit kind of sit with again, the language is not quite right, but sit with that area of tension or that brings your awareness until it releases however long that might take. Right it's only seconds. It's only ever been seconds. So yeah, I just focused I just My focus is laser like laser beam right now. I couldn't focus. I guess it's so powerfully that
yeah, I will feel something release or I will feel that I have to crack my neck. And I would just let that happen. And wow. You know, so I will probably do it 100 times a day. Because I'll just yeah, I'll be walking down the hallway. I'll do it. I'll you know, it's the first thing I do. When I wake up in the morning or when I wake up in the night my naked neck will have to crack. So it's just part of me now. It's just it felt so good. Yeah, but I just learned to do it and it's almost
like I'm being pulled along this path. Now, I don't have to focus very much, I'll just kind of be shown where the next place is, and I'll focus on it and something will release. And I'll do it again and something else we're releasing. So and we should say, it's taken you some time to practice to get to this point where you can do walking down the hallway. But I used to not be able to multitask, right? I used to have to have my eyes closed, sit and focus, right. But now I can do it when I'm doing the dishes when I'm watching TV when I'm walking. Yeah. One other great thing is you didn't have necessarily any particular background or training, like, in theory, almost anyone could get to this place where they too can can do it this way. That's what I believe. Yes. I mean, I was just determined I was also I wasn't, I don't think I was very comfortable sharing the depth of my soul with anyone else. So it felt I could do that with myself, I could be honest with myself, and I could let the emotions flow with myself. And that was to me the power of EFT I could do it myself. It was free, I could do it as much or as little as I wanted. Yeah, so yeah, I didn't have any special abilities. So when we should say that also, on your website, you've written a book, explaining all this and giving the whole tutorial, it's called a pathway to Insight recapture your childhood buzz, which there's an accompanying workbook, which I thought was really cool. I love a workbook. And that's right on your website, which, of course will link is that where you give these three segments and really go through the process, so someone could follow along? I do yes. In detail. There's also have a YouTube channel that has videos on the three different steps. So if you don't want to buy my book there, they're just there for you. For you to learn as well, that little, that little link will be in the show notes too. Because I really, I mean, I think the more we can all have a hand in our own wellness, and we do need to take responsibility for you know, no doctor is going to sit with us for hours and hours and ask about, you know, when we're going for a headache, our childhood traumas, and you know, unless you find the magical one that you did, but even then he sent you on your way with it. That's right. You mentioned in something else that I read that that's why you know, all of what you've just said is why positive thinking doesn't work to create these results. And it's different than the law of attraction. And those are two different things. Will you talk a little bit about that? Yeah, a lot of people think we should be positive thinking these days. But when we try to think positively, we're really suppressing what we're actually thinking or feeling. Yes. And that's how spiritual bypass, right? And the power is really finding what we're actually thinking or feeling. And working with that to release it. Because believe it or not, and I did not believe this to begin with the thoughts that you're thinking, those negative thoughts that keep coming around and around, they will actually disappear from your life if the energy behind them has been released. I mean, I was blown away when I realized one day, that the thoughts the self judgmental, the self critical thoughts, you know, not just self judgmental, but I was judgmental as well. Those thoughts disappeared from my mind. And that, you know, took me a while to realize that they were no longer there. But then I realized they had just been thoughts that my dad had,
you know, programmed into me and childhood, I just took them on as mine. And I replayed them over and over. But once I let them go, they just disappeared. And it was so nice. It is pretty incredible. When we realize how many of those types of judgmental, whether self or other thoughts are, are not necessarily our own thoughts, or the way I say it is Whose voice is that thought in? Because we think it's our own voice. But then just like you said, we realize, oh, you know what, that's my dad used to always say that. And that's where that originated from. So how so powerful. Yeah. So in terms of the law of attraction, what I realized in the process of doing all this work, and you know, and because I put my awareness inside my body, and I realized the incredible tension we have in there. I mean, the connective tissue pools were the force of 2000 pounds per square inch. Yeah, that is a massive force. And when you realize how much is stored inside using that much force, it's it's just mind blowing. So I realized that we emit a signal every second of every day, we're emitting a signal, and we're attracting back into our life based on the signal that we're emitting right now. So even though we think maybe that we're calm and peaceful, we're actually holding this massive tension inside of our subconscious mind. And that is playing a huge role in what we're attracting into our future muscle to really change what we're attracting, we actually have to let go of that tension inside, which is doing this work. It's releasing our past
past traumas and humiliations and embarrassments and the programming we received in childhood, that is going to make the most difference to what we're attracting to our future. And is it would you say it's because, yes, ultimately, it's changing the thoughts, but it's changing our own frequency that then creates those thoughts that make us a match for other experiences? Yes, it's Yeah, yeah, I think of it in terms of our signal, right? It's our signal is everything about us. So it's, it's our hair, right? If you and I shaved our head, so our hair off and went out into society, we're going to attract different thoughts and different words from other people, because we have changed our signal. So that tension inside of us is also part of our signal. And once we change that, we're going to attract different thoughts, different emotions, different things from other people, as well as through us. Yes, I think so many people can resonate with just that idea of holding things inside, whether it's, you know, an argument we had two days ago or something that happened, you know, 20 plus years ago, we think we're putting this face out externally, but the energetic signal is not.
You know, what I think we're putting out there, right? It's still stuck inside all those resentments, everything, everything you haven't let go of, it's still even the tears. And the one of the things I say is, all those tears that we never shed in childhood are still inside of us. And wow, to find them and let them go, and they will come out. But until we do, we're actually using energy to keep them suppressed, even if we don't consciously think that we are. Right.
I think that's the hardest part, excuse me about the subconscious as we think like, oh, yeah, that's not that's not in there anymore. I've already dealt with that or thought about that, or but it's it really does store within us. Yeah, I mean, I remember telling my orthodontist one time, because I had migraines for a long time. And he said to me, you must have so much tension stuck in your jaw. And I laughed at him. It's like, I don't think so.
But then I became aware there was so much tension inside of there, it's just crazy. Well,
are there things that we can start doing right now, I mean, obviously, get your book and watch your videos and do the workbook because this technique is accessible to everyone and anyone. And like you were saying, at the top kind of in your own language is even better if you can kind of translate it into your own language within and I would guess when you're moving your awareness within your body, there's not even necessarily language that's happening. Right, right. It's more of like an internal. Yeah. So you don't even need to have language for that piece of it. Is there a starting point that you suggest for people? Yeah, the starting point is always becoming aware. So noticing during the day, when you're becoming emotional, just noticing, until you notice, you can't do anything about it. And we tend to get caught up in our emotions, right, when you become angry will become sad. But if we can stand back and notice, oh, I'm becoming angry, or I'm becoming frustrated, in that moment, you're in the present moment with it. And at that point, you can do something about it. So if you know EFT you can tap about it or any other technique that does a similar kind of thing. But until you start noticing, then you can't do anything about it. So powerful. And I think the other thing to know is that because of how we were raised or where we were raised, or programming we received, like you were saying, sometimes we have such a small list of emotions that we would identify like, I've worked with people that they'll say tired, but actually, there's much more emotion underneath tired is more of the feeling, not the emotion, it's the symptom, not the emotion under there, is there a way in if someone doesn't even have a lot of emotional language that they're working with? Well, if they don't know the other words, it doesn't really matter too much. So we always just start with wherever they are, whatever words they have the words to use, because that's their truth. That's what they know right then. So even though tired, may not, in words mean much more to them inside of the body itself. All those other feelings are there, when they're saying tired. So you can just you can just tap on the word tired. And along those lines is I've had a lot of people, well, a few people
say that they're bored, or yeah, they're bored. And I've asked them well, could that mean peaceful? And they've agreed, yes, it could be peaceful, but they've never experienced peace before. And interesting. They've experienced what they call boredom. So it's nice to throw a few words in there because they they may know what the words are. And just to give them another viewpoint
So that's so cool.
And then I guess this can be lifelong work for anyone, like you said, you're doing this many times a day throughout your day in a very simple way. But it's because we're, as we move through the world, we're picking up, you know, having new experiences having new emotions. So things are still continuously being created within our body as well as that right? Well, I kind of don't think so quite so much. I think most of those negative emotions are created and stored in childhood. Wow, Once you clear them out enough, they're just not there in the same way. So I do not get triggered by things. I used to be triggered by before. So scary phone calls anymore.
Nothing like that. It's just much easier when when those things when you have to do something that maybe before you would have felt stressed by? Yeah, it's just it's just very different. Just life feels very different. That's so great. It's nice. Oh, and who doesn't want to feel relaxed and at ease? And
what's what's the opposite of tension? Release?
Yeah, peaceful? I don't know. Yeah, that's pretty incredible. Well, will you tell us your website again, and again, I'll link it in the show notes. But just for anyone who wants to find it, show it's an hints.com. It's just my name. And it's very easy. And it's just like it sounds. And like I said, I'll have all of it in the show notes. And you can get the book there, as well. And you do periodically do workshops or teachings or working with clients as well, right? Yeah, I do some one on one work. I'm actually learning how to put on retreats right now. So I'm going to have a retreat next year for women who have lost their mother. So it's amazing the mother work, it's called Liberation Beyond Loss. That's incredible. And so that would be fun to do this work for several days. And just feel the difference right from beginning and not knowing quite how the month how your mother lives inside of you to releasing that and then experiencing it after a few days and seeing the difference. I think that's going to be a fun experience. And probably so powerful in a supportive community as well. I'm sure you've got a list, like an email drop on your website, too. So if someone wanted to get on your list to learn about that? Yeah, I do. Actually. Yeah, I have a PDF download of my cheat sheet for EFT. It's a tool
that gives all the information. So hopefully, you should be able to do that. Yes. So that's right on your website, too. So if you are feeling like, Okay, I want to test this out for myself. I'm a big believer, and like, just test it on yourself and see, you know, it's funny, it's how I started with, when I first started learning Reiki kind of similar to what you said, I was like, I don't know if I believe this, I need to know. And I had set up this whole experiment this like with a control group and my test group with plants and was like doing, you know, measuring water and fertilizer. And so I do think we need to test these things. You know, the either either it will feel good, or it won't and keep out it. Yeah, I agree. Yeah. I mean, these days, they've had a lot of they've done a lot of medical tests with EFT so yeah, it definitely does work. But I still agree that you should check it out yourself. Yeah, science is always catching up.
Which is how I feel you have graciously agreed to do our Spirit Speed Round, four fun and easy questions. Are you okay to shift to that? Is there any other thoughts you want to share about EFT before we change gears? Um, no, I think we can probably do a little bit in these questions. So we'll see. Oh, yeah. That's so fun. Okay. So I know you've heard the questions already. But the first question is, will you share one thing that really shocked you or was unexpected about what you've discovered with EFT and tapping and the way that you do it your method? Okay, well, obviously, getting inside the body was like, crazy, you know, thing that I'd never experienced that I didn't know could happen. But earlier on, it was what I shared earlier, the fact that we just store these emotions and energy physically in our body, and that we can let it go. But it's just all these emotions of just energy that is stuck in the body. It just wants to be felt. And when it's felt, it will let go. So we don't have to attach to the emotions, we can just think logically. That it's just energy that's stuck in the body. And it just wants to be felt. Once we feel it. It'll let go. so simple but so profound to love that. If you got to spend a day in the spirit world on the other side, you got the full tour, you got to spend time with everyone you've ever known has crossed over and it's almost time to return to your life. Your guide tells you that you have one hour left and you can choose it with anyone who's on the other side. Who do you spend it with and why
I would want to spend it with Jesus because I would want to know what he's doing in his mind. Or, you know, or whatever. Conscious mind subconscious mind, thinking mind feeling mind, I want to know what he's doing inside when he's doing his, you know, miracles or the work that he did. Yeah.
I love it.
Even though we have spiritual gifts or spiritual practices, we have very human lives. What's one quirky thing about you that people might be surprised to learn
that I wear blue? Pretty much only. And always, because I've developed the ability to feel into colors? I couldn't before this is a change along the way. So blue feels just so comfortable and peaceful to me. So I wear blue all the time. That's so cool. Well, and I think that's a really good point, too, is as we work the physical side and work this the emotion stuck in our body, a beautiful byproduct of that is that sometimes additional sensitivities and gifts and intuition also starts to expand and open up So absolutely, yeah. There's a huge depth to life. Yeah, that is available to us that we don't see, because we don't know it exists. So that's so cool. And get back to topic. Will you leave us with a pearl of wisdom? What's one piece of advice that you wish that you had early on and your understanding of this work? Okay, well, that's kind of what I did just share about just knowing that emotions are just energy that stuck in the body. But the other part is also what I just shared, it's like, there is so much more depth to life than we are aware of, I mean, 20 years ago, I had no idea. But for anyone who's depressed, right, or feeling suicidal, there is so much more to life, if you start doing this work, you will start to experience it. And it's so satisfying, just to have these changes. I mean, one of the changes is my voice, right? Our head as our echo chamber, our voice comes through it. And it's, it's, it's either tense, and we sound really high pitched. Yeah. Right, or it's not. And so I can actually sing, sing notes that I could never seen before. Wow. And I can, I can hear not just through my ears, but through my body, so I can feel music throughout my body. Which means that even with a conversation with someone, I'm able to pick up more nuances than I could 20 years ago. So anyone can do that, right. But it just adds more depth to life, it makes life more satisfying. You can tell when someone's lying more, right, because you can see where they're holding tension in their body. Or you can see they're not breathing fully. So they're clearly hiding something. Right. So all that is available to us by doing this work. Wow, how incredible and profound. And thank you for all of the work that you've done on yourself and in your own life to really be able to bring this gift to the world. So I really appreciate you sharing everything with us today and shining your light. Thanks for being here. Thank you. Thanks for the great conversation. Of course, we will talk soon. Okay. Wow, what did you think of that conversation? I can tell you I'm gonna head over to Ann's website and get her downloadable cheat sheet myself. But I also think this retreat she has coming up around Grief and Healing is going to be so profound and powerful. I have actually experienced EFT and tapping before, but the way that Ann explains it, it's almost like she takes it steps further steps deeper. And I actually hadn't really put it together before our conversation of particularly how profound this could be. I understood that tapping was clearing the emotions and that we could on that scale, kind of understand if we were feeling better and our emotions, but I really didn't realize that we can get to the depths of healing, particularly as it affects the physical body as everything that and shared with us here today. I'm so grateful to have had her here sharing her wisdom. And you know, I love when we experiment on ourselves with all of these tools and techniques. So I love that she really has done the work and has her own real life examples to share and has fine tune these techniques to such an incredible point that is so profound and powerful, but so simple that literally even a kid could do it. So I hope that you will check out her website and hence.com Again, I will have everything linked in the show notes. I'm also pretty excited that she has not only her book but the accompanying workbook. Y'all know I love a workbook. I don't know about you, but I really like to get in
and explore tools. Again, her book is A Pathway to Insight:, Recapture Your Childhood Buzz, and I will link AnnHince.com and her YouTube where you can find all of the instructional videos totally free plus her story where she shows the actual x rays and scans that she was talking about in our conversation so you can see for yourself exactly what she's talking about. So thank you so much for being here with us today inside Spirit Speakeasy for this incredible conversation with a profound luminary of our time. I wish healing for all of us emotionally, physically, individually, collectively, globally. sending you lots of love. Big hugs. Bye for now.
